EDGE Employer Spotlight on Agri-Business

EDGE’s third quarter Employer Spotlight focused on area agri-businesses and producers. “According to the latest U.S. Census of Agriculture, in 2007 Richardson County’s market value of agricultural products sold totaled more than $97.9 million, an increase of 85% from the 2002 Census,” said Beckie Cromer, Executive Director of EDGE.

To recognize the economic impact producers have on the local economy, EDGE sponsored an Open House for the public on Wednesday, August 26. Area farm operators spoke on trends and innovations in agricultural production and management and the latest farm equipment was on display.

EDGE Open House With Special Guest Senator Mike Johanns

(Falls City, Nebraska – August 4, 2009) – Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise (EDGE) officials in cooperation with Senator Mike Johanns’ office announced today that plans have been finalized for Senator Johanns’ visit to Falls City on Tuesday, August 18, 2009.  Senator Johanns’ visit will be highlighted with a community tour that includes industrial site visits at AirLanco and Vantec.  “Falls City is a showcase community with a long list of recent accomplishments”, said Beckie Cromer, Executive Director of Falls City EDGE, “We look forward to not only sharing our success stories with Senator Johanns, but also our plans to advance economic development priorities in the future.”  Following the tour, the public is invited to attend an open house from 2:30-3:30 PM at the new EDGE office located at 1614 Stone St.  Falls City EDGE encourages everyone to stop by and visit with Senator Johanns, tour the new EDGE office and enjoy refreshments.

U.S. Senator Johanns Commends EDGE During Visit to Falls City

U.S. Senator Mike Johanns toured Falls City with officials of Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise (EDGE) on Tuesday, August 18. The Senator’s visit was coordinated in conjunction with a reception to officially open EDGE’s new office at 1614 Stone Street in downtown Falls City.

Johanns presented a letter to Mayor Rod Vandeberg, recognizing Falls City’s designation as an economic development certified community by the Department of Economic Development. In his letter and comments made during the reception, Johanns stated he appreciated the good work of Falls City EDGE and the hard working people of Falls City in earning the distinguished honor. He also commended EDGE’s pursuit of opportunities for growth and improvement and said he was proud of continued efforts to strengthen the community.

Senator Lavon Heidemann also attended the event.
