In 1972 Russell E. Dorr moved the Dorr Funeral Home into this location at 23rd and Harlan Street after building a new facility. The facility housed the Dorr Funeral Home until 2001 when Rodney Knaup and Brian Daake became part owners, it then became the Dorr & Clark Funeral Home after Dorr Funeral Home purchased the Clark Funeral Home and combined both businesses into one at the present location. The Clark Funeral Home was purchased from SCI, a Houston based funeral home corporation. The Clark Funeral Home was previously owned by Allan Clark who sold the business to ECI, another funeral home corporation, in the mid 90’s. ECI eventually was purchased by SCI. Dorr and Clark Funeral Home is proud of its local ownership and operation.
We feel it is important that you are advised and served by someone who knows the community and your traditions as well as offering flexible options in making funeral arrangements. We feel the families we serve are deserving of the dignity and respect that no one else can offer. Funeral homes come and go, we are proud to have a long standing tradition of service in the Falls City community.
Rodney and Brian both feel that EDGE is an outstanding way for us to give back to a community that has been so kind to us. We feel that Mr. Dorr would have been proud to have his name associated with an organization that promotes the growth and betterment of Falls City.

Community Medical Center measures its success in the quality of care received by patients, the impact made on the health of the community, the fiscal stability of the facility, and the extent to which physicians, clinicians and other health professionals are able to practice meaningfully at our hospital.
Founded originally in 1918, Community Medical Center was the fifth hospital in Nebraska to receive accreditation from the American Hospital Association. Community Medical Center has been a valued and trusted health partner with area citizens for 90 years, and to ensure that partnership continues, construction is underway for a modern, state-of-the-art medical facility, scheduled for completion in December 2009. CMC provides a full range of medical services, including acute hospitalization, skilled nursing recovery, surgery, obstetrics, emergency department, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, oncology chemotherapy, physical and occupational therapy, and cardiac rehabilitation. Community Medical Center operates Family Medicine Clinic in Falls City and Humboldt Family Medicine in Humboldt, Nebraska to provide primary care services to County residents. In addition, physician specialists from major medical centers in Lincoln, Omaha and St. Joseph maintain active part-time practices in Falls City through the hospital’s specialty clinic. A listing of specific clinics and physicians is available at www.cmcfc.org or by calling 402.245.6521.
Community partnerships include our Get F.I.T. wellness program, Good Beginnings program for all new mothers and babies, “I Can Cope” cancer support group, grief support, diabetic education and the community health fair. Additionally, CMC supports numerous community events and activities, with hospital employees regularly volunteering for community clubs, churches, schools and civic organizations. The “Pink Ladies” volunteer group provides an invaluable service to the hospital.
We are excited about the future of Community Medical Center, Falls City, and Richardson County. The new building project reinforces our commitment to the future of this area and our vision of a healthy and happy community. We are proud to be a part of Falls City, serving southeast Nebraska since 1918.
QUALITY CARE CLOSE TO HOME
Falls City EDGE and the Chamber will be co-hosting a public reception to celebrate Falls City receiving the prestigious Nebraska Community of the Year Award last month at the Nebraska Diplomats Banquet.
The event will be held on Tuesday, November 10, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the Falls City Library and Arts Center. The award will be on display and the video used at the banquet to showcase Falls City’s many accomplishments will be shown. Refreshments, including cookies, coffee and cider, will be served.
As noted in EDGE President Kevin Malone’s letter to the community, this is a community award and belongs to everyone in the community. EDGE and the Chamber invites the entire community to join in the celebration.
Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise (EDGE) officials hosted partners from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development on Monday, October 12, 2009. Richard Baier, Director, and Whitney Bumgarner, Development Consultant for the Southeast Region, were in Falls City to tour the community and discuss potential business objectives. The meeting focused on Falls City’s positive attributes, unique qualities and recruitment strategies. It was a productive meeting and EDGE is appreciative for the continual support and involvement from Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
Steve Kottich, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, noted, “EDGE welcomed the opportunity to visit with Richard Baier. We know he is extremely busy and we appreciated the opportunity to show off our community. Any opportunity to spend one-on-one with the Director of the Dept. of Economic Development is time well spent for our community.”
