The 2008 Richardson County Business Visitation Survey conducted by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development reveals business leaders high regard for area utility services.  Electrical services were rated the number one business climate factor, followed by natural gas; waste water, water, telephone and internet services were rated in the top eight factors.  All six utility factor ratings were 1.9 or less on a scale of 1-5 with 1 equaling excellent.

To encourage and stimulate continued growth and development, the City reinvests a percentage of the revenue of municipal utilities in the community to support economic development.

Telecommunications services are provided by Southeast Nebraska Telephone Co. and Time Warner Cable.
