Planning for Falls City’s Economic Future

To grow our economy, we need clear priorities, focused resources, and a way to track progress. EDGE’s new three-year Strategic Plan, approved by our Board of Directors, offers this framework through 2029. The plan sets a common direction for economic development and links EDGE’s efforts to the needs of Falls City residents, businesses, developers, and site selectors.

The plan highlights three main areas that shape our region’s economic future: business growth, community investment, and organizational capacity. Each area has clear goals and strategies to support current businesses, attract new investment, improve community resources, and keep EDGE running effectively.

Three Priorities Guide Our Work

  1. Business Attraction & Retention helps current businesses grow and stay in the area. It also encourages new businesses, supports the bioeconomy and agriculture, and works to bring in new industries.
  2. Community Infrastructure & Investment focuses on updating infrastructure, especially dual rail access and improving electrical transmission. It also works on policies that support businesses and address key needs like housing, childcare, and recreation.
  3. Operational Sustainability aims to improve how we communicate with the public, strengthen EDGE’s ability to support community projects, and encourage strong board leadership, member involvement, and collaboration with the community.

Clear Measures Will Guide Our Progress

EDGE will use a proven framework that lists main goals, specific actions, leaders for each goal, priorities, needed resources, and a color-coded tracker for committees. This helps link each priority to clear actions and results. Board members and committees will check progress throughout the year and update the plan annually as priorities and circumstances change.

The plan also sets out a new Vision, Mission, and Values to guide future decisions and partnerships.

Vision: A connected and vibrant community providing opportunity, stability, and quality of life for all generations.

Mission: To cultivate a strong and resilient economy that drives prosperity across our region.

Values: Persistence, Collaboration, Stewardship, and Community.

The Strategic Plan gives EDGE a clear way to make decisions, work with partners, and share results. You can explore each part of the plan to learn more about the goals and projects that will guide EDGE’s work through 2029.
