Construction to Begin on “Wilderness Falls II” Housing Development

(Falls City, Nebraska – July 7, 2015) Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise (EDGE), is pleased to announce Excel Development Group will begin construction on a phase II family housing project at a cost of nearly $3M dollars. Preliminary work for the Wilderness Falls II project is currently underway. This year long construction project, which includes 7-duplexes, will consist of four 2-bedroom units, eight 3-bedroom units and two 4-bedroom units that will rent for $475, $515, and $560 per month respectively.
The Wilderness Falls II housing development will be all one level and include a zero entry design, patio, and attached garage. Exterior features will include partial brick, shutters, landscaping, and lawn sprinklers with amenities such as a washer and dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, and microwave in each unit. Tenants will also enjoy a maintenance free living environment and a shared community garden which will be developed as part of the project.

This project addresses a direct need as outlined in the 2010 Falls City Housing study. “It is wonderful to be able to help my hometown meet some of their housing needs” said Paula Rhian Development Director for Excel Development Corporation, “With all of the business expansions and new jobs coming to town we are excited to get this project underway!” Wilderness Falls II is a great project that includes capital investment, infrastructure improvement, increased tax base, job creation, and quality of life improvements, all of which are components of economic development.
Excel Development Group will let bids at the end of July and local contractors are encouraged to submit proposals for this project. Construction will begin in August with plans to be ready for occupants by the summer of 2016. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held soon so watch for more information as details are finalized.
